SILEX LBE

Information System for Experimentation

SILEX-LBE, the information system for experimentation, centralises online measurements and comments of the users for any processes from the laboratory scale to the pilot scale.
The main processes connected with SILEX involve degradation bioprocesses of organic matter in dry, liquid, aerobic or anaerobic conditions. Moreover, a micro-algae pilot plant of 25 m3 in outdoor conditions is coupled with SILEX and with a weather station.

SILEX-LBE communicates with online data acquisition softwares, especially with the ODIN software developed by the INRIA team BIOCORE, Matlab or Labview. It manages both online data from sensors and automated or semi-automated analyzers.

Features of SILEX-LBE are:Interactive visualization of data from processes over long periods of time.

  • Database storage of measurements acquired in-line, 'at-line' and offline files including images, documents or spreadsheets.
  • Management of users with groups and user rights. Data confidentiality.
  • Comments written by any authorized users organized by category with ability to attach files.
  • Data export to text, spreadsheets and database formats.
  • Data export to statistical software R.
  • Remote connection through a Web interface.
  • Automatic communication with the R software to perform advanced data processing.
  • Menus available in three languages: French, English, Spanish.
  • Online documentation in a wiki.
  • All the data are saved daily and the hardware server is  doubled.

Issued from a collaborative work with the UMR MISTEA (Mathematics, Informatics and Statistics for Environment and Agronomy), this platform, developed with free softwares, aims to spread at INRA but also in other research institutes and in the industrial sector. For example, a customized version is processing from 2013 at the University of Guadalajara (Mexico). It is also used in an adapted version by laboratories of  CEPIA-INRA  research department "Science and Process Engineering of Agricultural Products" : SPO(Montpellier),  Pech-Rouge experimental unit (Gruissan) and LEPSE  (Montpellier)
